SEN PARENT FORUM and Parent ambassadors.
SEN PARENT FORUM
At Exning, we value parental feedback and engagement with the provision and issues affecting SEND across the school. Therefore, we hold a parent forum meeting each term, where parents and carers can give their opinions on different topics relating to SEND. These meetings will take a variety of forms, but will always provide the opportunity to discuss issues facing parents/carers of children with SEND and provide a network of support.
The Group Room is always open for half an hour prior to the meetings to allow parents to meet informally over refreshments to offer support and advice to one another.
Feedback will be given after the meeting to all parents who request it, regardless of whether they were able to attend. If you would like to become a forum member, please contact Mrs Ruth Clifford-Turner, the SENCo.
We also have strong network of parents and carers who have expertise or experience in a certain area relating to SEND. These parents are happy to be contacted by anyone who has concerns about their child, has questions or queries or just wants someone to talk to about their child's needs. This could be following a diagnosis; at a point of transition; when there has been a change or escalation in behaviour or simply when they need some advice or support.
Some of the areas that our ambassadors can help with include:
- Mental Health and Anxiety
- ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder)
- Global Development Delay (GDD)
- Cerebral Palsy
- Hearing Impairment
- Erland's Syndrome/Visual Stress
- Speech and Language
If you would like to contact one of our parent ambassadors, please speak to Mrs Clifford-Turner and she will put you in touch with one of the ambassadors who would be most suited to the area you are looking for support with. She can be contacted on:
