Maths

english

Fractions

  • Recognising, finding, naming and writing fractions of a length, shape, set of objects or quantity
  • Writing simple fractions e.g. 1/2 of 6 = 3
  • Recognising the equivalence of 2/4 and 1/2

 Numbers within 100

  • Recognising the place value of each digit in a 3-digit number
  • Showing the value of a 3-digit number in more than one way
  • Comparing numbers within 1000 using the <, > and = signs

Writing - Narrative

We will be writing a fictional narrative text based on a castle.

  • Writing for purpose
  • Using imaginative description to add interest
  • Organising writing appropriately
  • Using sentences appropriately
  • Presenting work neatly

Writing - Non Fiction

We will be writing non-fiction text in our topic and Science work.

Spelling and Grammar

We will be revising the spelling rules we have learnt so far and practise using the grammar we have been taught.

Reading 

As well as weekly guided reading and independent reading, we will also be writing answers to reading comprehension questions.  The texts we will read will be a mix of fiction, non-fiction and poetry.

In our English lessons we will be looking at non-fiction texts related to our topic. 

 

Our Class Reader

We will be continuing to read Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl.
